Create Amazing Logo Using Your Regular Selfie: Photoshop Tutorial For Beginners To Advanced

In this Photoshop tutorial, I will show you step by step to create an amazing Logo from your regular Mobile Selfie in Photoshop with simple steps.

Time to complete

Less than 5 minutes

Photoshop CS4 or higher

To start off choose any selfie image of your choice from your mobile gallery. I’ve chosen one of my own. You can also download any picture from any Free Stock Photo Websites.

Start by importing the picture into Photoshop and make a selection around your object. There are many, you can use any one of the selection tool of your choice. For this image I’ve used Quick Selection Tool (W). If you are also using the same tool you can set the radius size as per your requirement by using “[“ & “]” keys. Then drag the tool around the object and make selection around the object. To remove areas of the selection press & hold “Alt” button and drag over those areas.

Go to Image > Adjustment > Threshold and set the value as per your requirement based on your image so that the model present on the image recognized properly and then click ok. In this image I’ve set the threshold value to “83”.

Now go to Select > Color Range and set the Fuzziness values to “0” and then click ok.

(color range will keep only one color removing other color inside the selection)

Go to File > New (Ctrl + N) to create a new document and set the dimension as “width: 1920 & height: 1080” & “resolution: 300 pixels/inch” and click ok. Now make a duplicate layer of the background by pressing “Ctrl+J” and rename it as “BG”. Then right click on the “BG” layer and click Blending Options and select “Gradient Overlay”. And set the values as follows:

  • Gradient color: Reverse
  • Style: Radial
  • Angel: 0
  • Scale: 150

And then press ok.

Then go to the previous document and select the Move tool (V) and then drag and drop the selected area from the previous document to the new document (you can also use Copy & Paste method). Now scale the image layer as per your requirement with the help of Free Transformation tool (Ctrl+T). And then place the image in the center of the document by aligning it with the BG layer from the option bar.

Now create a circle with the help of Ellipse tool from the tool bar (U) around the image. Then go to the blending option of the circle layer and set the Fill opacity to “0”. Now select “Stroke” & set the stroke size as per your need and click ok. In my case I’ve set the stroke value as “7 px”. Now make a duplicate copy of the circle layer by pressing “Ctrl+J” and scale it little bit bigger or smaller with the help of “Free Transformation tool” compared to the previous one and go to the blending option of it. If you scaled the duplicate circle bigger compared to the previous one, then increase the stroke size and if smaller, then decrease the stroke size. In this project I’ve scaled down the duplicate circle layer and therefore I’ve set the stroke size as “3 px”.

Now click ok. Create new blank layer from the bottom of the layer panel (Shift+Ctrl+N). Now select the blank layer and both the circle layers together by pressing Shift button and merge them together by pressing Ctrl+E and rename the merge layer as “Stroke”.

Go to File > Place and browse for a colorful image you want to clip with your image, then select it and click place to import the image in your document and scale it down as per your requirement. Now make a duplicate copy of this colorful image layer and place one on top of the original image layer and one on top of the stroke layer. Then right click on both the colorful image layers one after one and click “Create Clipping Mask”. And then move the colorful image layers with help of “Right Arrow or Left Arrow” on the keyboard as per your requirement or the way you like it to appear.

Now right click on the layer of the original image and click “Blending options” and select “Drop Shadow” and set the following values:

  • Angle: 120
  • Distance: 1
  • Spread: 0
  • Size: 1

And then press ok.

You can apply any other filter or adjustment, if you like to.

So, here here we are. Now you have the result just the way you wanted. Wasn’t it quick and awesome?
